- “Step right up and try the zestiest, lip-smackingest flavor extravaganza ever to hit your taste buds. Eggman's Tomato Sauce. Made with real tomatoes.”
- —Dr. Eggman, "Dr. Eggman's Tomato Sauce"
Eggman's Tomato Sauce are robotic cans of tomato sauce that appear in the Sonic Boom television series. It is a patented food product Dr. Eggman made for a plot to take over Seaside Island. It consists of a tomato sauce and a robotic can used for infiltration. They first appear in the episode "Dr. Eggman's Tomato Sauce."
Eggman's Tomato Sauce consists of two things: the tomato sauce and the can. The sauce itself is made with real tomatoes and several herbs and spices that are organic and lair grown, and is quite delicious; Sonic describes the taste as if "[his] taste buds are swimming in a sea of mouthwatering tomato-y goodness".
The sauce can itself, while appearing nothing out of the ordinary, is actually a robot in disguise which can grow six legs and an eye when active. These machines can rebuild electronics on their own to form basic robots from everyday appliances. However, their most terrifying skill is their ability to join together with each other to form various structures and constructs, from walls to robots of scrap which are nearly impossible to destroy since they can easily reassemble themselves if torn apart. Because of the obviousness of the sauce being a problem, the cans are deceptively overlooked.
History[edit]
Season One[edit]
"Dr. Eggman's Tomato Sauce"[edit]
In a scheme to take over Seaside Island, Dr. Eggman began selling Eggman's Tomato Sauce. When discovered, Sonic grew suspicious, thinking the sauce was tainted, but backed off when it was proven to be safe.
Over the next weeks, Eggman's Tomato Sauce quickly ended up in every home on the island where the robotic cans rebuilt the household appliances into robots in secret. As Eggman was interviewed on the Comedy Chimp Show for his sauce's success, he ordered his robotic cans and appliances to attack the villagers. After fighting off an army of these robots (except for Tails' Plane which Tails saved), Team Sonic confronted Eggman, but his sauce cans proved too much due to their numbers and the Scrapheap Bot they formed. Fortunately, Tails took Eggman's remote control and used it to stop the robots and making all the appliances go back to normal. Eggman then accidentally foiled his own plan by boasting about it on live television, resulting in all of his sauce cans getting recalled.
Season Two[edit]
"Lair on Lockdown"[edit]
Eggman's Tomato Sauce would reappear in the episode "Lair on Lockdown," where Dr. Eggman stored the leftover sauce cans away in his lair's storage room and basement after they were recalled. While stuck in the former room with Knuckles later on, Eggman would show Knuckles one of his robot sauce cans when he reflected upon his past projects.
Trivia[edit]
- Eggman's Tomato Sauce cans being able to make appliances into robots is similar to what Eggman did in the season 2 Sonic X episode "Mean Machines."
