Darius is a shoot 'em up, originally developed and published by Taito in 1986 for Arcade machines. It runs on custom hardware made specifically for the game itself.
A Sega Genesis port of Darius was released in 2019 exclusively for the Sega Genesis Mini as one of the two bonus titles. This version was mainly developed by one person, Hideki Konishi (known as Hidecade), while M2 completed all the leftovers of development. An update of the game, Darius: Extra Version, was released in 2020 physically for the Sega Genesis, this time, with no official license from Sega.
